Blogging opens opportunities to meet new people and acquire skills and knowledge while potentially earning money. Best of all, blogging offers flexibility to dive into your interests at your time and around your schedule. This way, you'll still have time to travel, dive into your hobbies, and spend time with your friends and loved ones.
One of the most exciting aspects of blogging is that there are countless ways to make money. In pursuit of expanding my knowledge and engaging with blogging communities, I decided to move my blog to an additional source of income at the beginning of 2021. At first, I am using my blog as a personal diary writing down my thoughts and reflections daily.
Before we get started, make sure to sign up for my newsletter and get tons of tips and tricks to boost your blogging business.
It's been such a great experience being able to grow and connect with readers engagement levels every day through creating quality content in any form or fashion possible – it's never too late either because new bloggers have just as much opportunity t0 earn as bloggers with years of content and money in the bank! Successful blogs range from food blogs up to political ones! You can still generate revenue using this platform, whatever your niche maybe!
A typical blog includes text, pictures, videos, animated GIFs, and scans from old physical diaries or journals to engage the public personally. Blog owners typically set their blogs for private or public access depending on how they want people, in general, to view them: as entirely personal information for exclusive groups of friends who know about it beforehand (private) versus anyone being able to find what's inside through links available elsewhere like business websites and emails that mention the name of theirs too many times already (public).

Sections of a blog
Successful WordPress blogs all have one thing in common: they provide their audience with a consistent and unique voice.
About Page should be informative about who you are and what your blog is centered around- think of it as an introduction page for yourself!
A contact page will give visitors with any questions or comments easy access to get back to you without having them leave the site.
Show your social media by creating a media kit. A media page allows bloggers like myself put up photos, videos, podcasts, etc., which can make for great content that engages readers on my website even more!
A post refers to a published individual entry on a blog or a website. It is usually composed of written content which details a specific topic that a blogger wants to share. Images and videos enhance the content by serving as a visual to process the information.
Blogging is a great way to share your ideas with the world and learn about other people's perspectives (Pik Wizard). It can be an excellent outlet for creativity or simply a place where you can let off steam after work.
A privacy policy is a set of rules established by the blogger or website owner. The policy will typically state how and when the publisher can use any personal information readers provide while using their blog. It also gives readers guidelines on limiting their exposure to future marketing.
A Guide to Starting a Successful Blog
Take this information and use it in your blogging endeavors. When you are done, take some time to think about what might be missing from this list or how these could change for other types of blogs (i.e., business, entertainment).
A short-list of blog categories
When you get started blogging, it's essential to know what type of blog posts you want to create and where your audience is. This list will help guide you and inspire you with some ideas for posts!
How-to blogs
How-to blogs can be either informational or instructional. This type of blog uses step-by-step lists and instructional text to teach readers how to accomplish specific tasks, such as programming, repairing electronics, or cooking bacon in the microwave oven.
“What” blogs
In this kind of blog, the author typically provides ratings on products – in numeric form or with text labels such as “terrible” or “excellent.” The author also reviews various products within each post, ideally concluding with a recommendation on which product or service to buy.
Examples of “what” blogs are:
Product review blog
A detailed review of products, generally with a star or numeric rating.
Product comparison blog
Reviews of multiple products at once. The studies typically include star ratings and comparisons such as price or features. Commercial use for product comparison blogs is illegal in some countries due to copyright issues.
Resume Blogs
There are many types of resume bloggers that can generate revenue. Here are some examples:
Real estate blogs
Unlike most blogs, real estate blogging does not require posting a significant number of daily posts, nor is it written solely to promote an online business like real estate agents do with their websites. Instead, other content can be added to the blog and used in complementary marketing materials like brochures and ad sheets.
Review blogs
This type of blog discusses items that are not related to one another. They may be products, services, or even events. The purpose is to provide reviews for the item or event under consideration. For instance, a review on a product review blog would look like this: “Jeff Wangester reviewed this product, and I give it four stars out of 5 stars”. Review blog posts are used for one of two reasons, they are either conducted by someone who has been paid to do them or done because the reviewer truly enjoys the item and would want to share their experience with everyone.
Once a review blog is established, it can be turned into a commercial enterprise through Google AdSense placement, affiliate marketing, or direct sales. For example, a popular review blog could carry an Amazon link for every product reviewed and make money directly from selling those products – usually at no cost to themselves.
Product Review Blogs can also be used for independent product testing like those found at AnandTech, Hardware bench, and Tom's Hardware. These blogs tend to look a little different as they will have “sponsored reviews,” which are paid for by the manufacturer of the products being reviewed.
Funny blogs
Funny blogs are primarily used to make people laugh. They can be about anything. Common topics include relationship problems, current events, or the author making fun of themselves. Funny blogs can also be used as a marketing tool. An example is the Dilbert Blog by Scott Adams. His blog is regularly ranked in the top 100 of all blogs and keeps many interested readers returning day after day.
Humor blogs can be used as personal blogs where the author writes about their life, or they can be used to make money on the internet. Either way, a humorous blog is generally inexpensive to run and can be fun to maintain.
Funny blog topics Joke of the day: A compilation of jokes from various sources such as newspaper comics, video games, or other fun content. These blogs are usually updated daily and compiled into one post for easy reading.
Sketch of the day: An illustration is a cartoon or comic drawing. Graphics are usually humorous and of small size for easy viewing.
Poop Poll: This blog combines two popular Internet topics, funny pictures and polls. This blog is updated daily with new or funny pictures. The poll results are then posted to show the reader how they compare to other readers' votes for that day.
Humor blogs are one of the most entertaining types of blogs. They are often updated daily or hourly with new pictures, jokes, sketches, polls, and articles. These blogs can range from a few posts to a few hundred bases in length.
Comic of the day: A compilation of online comics and strips in one post. These are usually updated daily or even hourly with new content.
Poetry blogs
A Poetry blog expresses emotions artistically through written words, such as rhyming poetry, free verse, or lyrics.
Poetry blogs are often a form of expression and/or therapy for the author. Poetry can also be used for self-expression or to express one's emotions. These poems can be about anything. The objective is to allow the author to express themselves artistically through written words.
Some poetry blogs are solely used as a personal blog for the author to express their feelings, while others include poems that are available for anyone to read and/or download as a poem of the day.
A poetry blog can be used as a marketing tool. It can be used to showcase the author's skills as a Poetry writer, or it can be used to advertise and promote other projects. For example, an author may create and post their poems on a poetry blog published on forums for others to view or download. Some poetry blogs are easy to maintain, and others may take several hours daily or even weekly to update.
Quote blogs
This type of blog includes inspirational and motivational quotes from famous authors, philosophers, or celebrities. It is a reflection of your personality posted on your website.
Quote blogs are mainly used as personal blogs where the author will post daily quotes and/or add to existing sections with their thoughts. The purpose is to express what is in the author's mind at the post.
Another purpose for quote blogs can promote other projects, websites, etc., or as a promotional tool for businesses. For example, a quote from an author may contain a link that directs readers to the author's website or another link that directs readers to another business.
Travel blogs
Travel blogs are websites that offer information about the author's travels. They are usually maintained as a personal blog by the author to share information about their travels or where they have been. This can include details and reviews on specific locations, cultures, people, and experiences.
The purpose is for the author to share their travel experience with readers on a website in an entertaining way. They can also be used as an advertisement tool for businesses or projects such as websites or books. For example, the author's travel experience can be included for others to read. Travel blogs are usually updated daily with new articles or photos. Changes are also made to the individual blogs to reflect changes in the author's life, current travel activity, food or lodging preferences, etc.
Political blogger
Political blogs are used to express the views and opinions of the author on all political topics. Political blogs can be used to promote other projects. They can also be used to advertise the author's blog or website, although some people in the blogging community consider this type of advertising a form of spamming. This has led to many bloggers being banned from forums over time, so many choose not to use media as much as they once did for traffic generation.
Political blogs are usually updated daily and contain the latest news and current issues. This blog can be used as a promotional tool for other projects or web content, such as websites or eBooks. For example, the author's opinion is incorporated to present a view from a different perspective and share the latest news about the topic. This type of blog can also advertise various places, products, or services.
Food Blog
It's no secret that eating well is a great way to ensure good health. But many people struggle with healthy eating due to time constraints, lack of funds, or just places where they live and work. At those times, it's easy to end up with a heaping plate of fast food for lunch as opposed to the balanced meal you know you need. This is why we created this list of some of the best online resources that can help your go-to restaurants and takeout places become healthier in one easy step. As a food blogger, you inspire others to eat more nutritious meals with engaging pictures, videos, and kits.
Online Diary
Diary blogs are used to keep a journal of everyday thoughts and events. The purpose is to showcase the author's lifestyle, observations, and experiences. The author's daily life is reflected in these postings, which may contain photos, videos, or other media that give a real-life flavor to the posts. Diary blogs are usually updated daily (daily blog) or weekly (weekly blog).
Fashion Blogs
Fashion-style blogs and other blog sites are a great way to get into the fashion world. Fashion-style blogs are on the rise, and people can find fabulous fashion trends in most parts of the world. If you know almost nothing about fashion, don't worry, there's a place for you too! Blogging allows you to be creative in a way that most people don't get to experience, and when it comes to fashion, that creativity can shine through.
Lifestyle Blogs
Life blogs are used to share a life journey with readers. This can be in current events (daily blog) or monthly reflections on various topics. The purpose is to express the author's feelings, opinions, and life experiences through their own eyes. Life blogs may also be used as a personal blog by posting things about yourself, such as your family, friends, job, etc. These blogs are usually updated and maintained daily or weekly basis.
Some examples of life blogs
Pam's House Blend – www.pamshouseblend.com
Daily Knit – www.dailyknit.blogspot.com/p/about-me.html
Life blogs may also be used as a promotional tool for businesses or other projects such as websites or books. For example, the author's opinion is incorporated to present a view from a different perspective and share information about a specific project or event as it unfolds over time.
Tips on how to find the best blog topics
The primary purpose of blogging is to communicate and build a community. Blogs are a great way to share your thoughts and opinions on topics you care about. Bloggers can make their schedules and post their content. Bloggers can gather a significant amount of information by posting one article per day.
The most important reason to start a blog is that you have something to say. Your blog should be written for an audience and not just yourself. A great reason to begin a blog is for personal or business interest. Once you start blogging, people will come and read your content. If you enjoy writing, blogging can be considered a career or part-time job.
Flexible schedule
Many hobbies and interests require our valuable time and attention in this fast-paced life: Kids. Spouse. Travel. Kettlebells.
With blogging, all those things can still be fulfilled and done. Why? Because with blogging, time is on your side. You can write an article or talk about topics that you wish to discuss at any time you want.
Tip: I recommend you publish at least once a week.
While you can wherever you are whenever you want as a blogger, you must be passionate about sharing your story or writing about your interests.
Source of additional income
Blogging is considered another source of income for many people around the globe. Blogging is also famed for its money-making opportunities. In addition to affiliate marketing and ad revenue, some companies pay cash or send products to bloggers in exchange for a mention or a post. You can make money on your very first day. After that, small blogs can work with affiliates and promote services and products.

What is affiliate marketing? Make Money Promoting Products and Services
When starting as a blogger, make sure to familiarize yourself with online metrics to guide you in your marketing plan. Online metrics are ways to measure your blog's impact based on your daily or monthly page views, bounce rate, website ranking, search engine optimization (SEO) score, and social shares. The more claims, the better! Social shares measure how many people clicked on your blog and shared it on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, or other social media platforms.

Virtual community
Another great advantage of having a blog is growing your network through virtual communities. You can easily interact with fellow bloggers and discover brands worldwide when you have a blog. In addition, the more you explore the blogging world, the more you'll learn about marketing strategies and develop your skills as a content creator!
Blogging is like any hobby- it takes time to develop and grow. While there is no guarantee, it's worth a try.

Yes, bloggers are paid for their work. According to Glassdoor, bloggers in the United States, on average, earn $30,000 per year.
However, this is not a set price. Some bloggers make more or less than others.
Make Money with Ads
There are many ways to earn money from your blog. Monetization can come from running ads on your post and site.
You can add a banner image or text links to point readers to a product or service at the top of your post. It is ideal for ads to be placed on top so that readers can focus on your content. It also helps with your post's readability since it is out of the way.
Blogging ads such as Google's AdSense is a way to monetize your blog. Google AdSense calculates your previous month's earnings and pays the user revenue per mile per 1000 impressions each month. The total number of clicks and cost per click, divided by the total number of page views, determines the payment. Of course, ads are dependent on blog traffic. The more traffic, the better the ad revenue. To appeal to your audience, you need ads that resonate with your readers and support their needs and wants. Your community counts on you to provide information on products and services that can help them.
Affiliate marketing
Affiliate marketing is a flat rate or a certain percentage per click or impression awarded to the blogger based on lead or sale. If the reader clicks the link, buys, or signs up, the blogger receives a percentage of the proceeds. You control which recommendations of products or services are best suited to your blog and your content.
The most popular affiliate partnership is Amazon. When a reader clicks on a link to a sharing product, you earn a commission from the sale.
Partnerships
More and more businesses realize the power of partnerships with online influencers, such as bloggers, which means more opportunities to earn money.
Companies who blog receive 55 percent more visitors to their website than those who do not have a blog themeisle.com Companies and big businesses reach out to bloggers to form partnerships. Partnerships can lead to sponsored posts, ads, collaborations, and promoting the service and product.
Physical Products and Services
In your blog, you can choose whether to recommend a product or a service and maybe even both. A physical product is anything you sell and could probably ship to your customers.
A content creator creates and or delivers texts such as texts, videos, images to an online platform. Content creators are paid for their services by the online website that uses their work. Examples of services include assistants, writing, graphic design, coaching, and others, increasing your revenue. In addition, benefits can extend to long-term gains with workshops, and group facilitation can be done in person or online. The most well-known example is probably YouTube, where some of the most famous content creators can make a year's worth of living only with advertisements on videos they produce.
From Readers to Clients
As a business owner, you can interact with your audience and learn what is most important to your reader with ongoing communication. You can learn about the social media network they prefer and which topics are more relevant (and to whom). You build your knowledge of services and products that would most benefit your readers through communication. You offer solutions to your reader and convert them from readers to clients.
Primarily, bloggers write content for their website(s). However, bloggers who choose to monetize their blog become business owners who do much more than write content.
A blogging business owner is an entrepreneur first and a content creator second.
There are two types of blogging: (1) blogging for pleasure (blogger) and (2) blogging business owners. The difference is stark between the two.
Difference between bloggers and blogging business owners Bloggers:
- Publish content
- Usually on shared hosting platforms
- Tend not to own the rights to their work
- May be inconsistent
- Write for themselves and about their experience
Blogging Business Owners:
- Publish content consistently
- Usually on self-hosted websites
- Own the rights to their work
- Write for their subscribers.
- Promote their work
- Make money
- May hire additional support.
- Support content that serves their audience and may extend to podcasts, workshops, ebooks, downloads, physical and internet products, offer a fee-based service, and more.
- Are entrepreneurs first and content creators second
The first step to blogging is to choose whether you are a blogger or a business owner, with the most significant factor being monetization.
One of the most significant barriers to entry for a blogging business owner is creating a self-hosting website. To successfully be in the self-hosting realm, you need three things: (1) a hosting platform, (2) WordPress, and (3) a theme.
Hosting Platform
A hosting platform houses your website. When looking for the best hosting platform, look for the following items.
- Free trial
- Easy to use
- Monthly fee-based service
- Scalable
- Flexible
- Fast load speed
- Can be securely shared with a developer (if needed)
- Offers support
Pay for what you use on a month-to-month basis. The only hosting platform that meets all of these criteria is Cloudways. Cloudways are a company that's passionate about the internet and web performance. They're carefully crafted to provide a pleasant browsing experience for visitors and developers who can prioritize their bandwidth usage using Cloudways. Servers located closer to them.
As content creators, we want to offer our readers the best quality information possible; even if we don't know how to, Cloudways can provide what SLA is needed to manage and optimize content with Gutenberg smoothly. We're big fans of this digital platform because they help make us stand out from all the other competition online through peace of mind security provided by SSL certificates and site isolation protection. But that's not all…Cloudways manages every aspect of our website, from security and analyzing content to speed up load times; they've been very attentive, especially when it comes to our WordPress installations, because they know the importance of using it.
Cloudways is an excellent choice for bloggers, beginners, and professionals alike!

HOW TO START A WORDPRESS WEBSITE ON CLOUDWAYS: START A WEBSITE THAT IS AFFORDABLE, SCALABLE, AND OFFERS MONTHLY PAY-AS-YOU-GO PLANS
Theme
The theme is what faces the user interface when they go into a website.
Tip: Give yourself time to work with your music.
When looking for a website theme (and are not looking to hire a developer), look for the following.
- Pro theme
- Supporting files and services (60-day access to customer service)
- A reliable provider
- Fast load speed
- A responsive theme (can quickly adapt to mobile and desktop)
Beginner themes
A much simpler theme to work with is Divi.
With Divi, you trade ease for customization features.
Advance themes
I use the Genesis theme for my website. Genesis is a popular theme amongst bloggers and tends to be one of the most customizable.
Website Developers
Suppose you are new to website development. There are several tutorials online to help you with the most common questions. A web developer usually costs between $1500-$3000.
- Own the theme. A developer may have access to unlimited articles, but they may risk losing it if something goes wrong with their subscription.
- Communication. Ensure that you are closely working with your web developer and that you guide them all the way. Be sure that your instructions are understood and leave room for the developer to explore and use their expertise, too.
- Check-in. As you see hours billed, you should also see progress. With a pro theme, you have a great first draft in a matter of two clicks. You should also have something that looks like a website at the same pace.
Start and grow your blog today.
If you've been thinking about leaping starting your blog, but are unsure of where to begin or what tools and resources will best help you get started, then this post is for you. We have compiled a list of essential things that every blogger needs to thrive online, including hosting platform, WordPress theme, beginner themes (Divi), advanced pieces (Dignified), website developers, and content calendars. Your future self will thank you later when they look back at all their hard work put into making it successful!
Content Calendar
A content calendar is a great way to organize your blogging efforts. Setting up a content calendar allows you to plan what topics you will post in the next month, week, or even day (Digital Agency Network). It also ensures that you do not forget any important events and dates that should be noted on your site. If you create sponsored posts for clients, it is essential to set up a content calendar before reaching out to brands about your blog post ideas. Within your content calendar, you track and schedule.
- Blog posts
- Podcast episodes
- Social media
- Launches
- Sales
- Important dates
- Youtube Videos
- Lives
- And much more.
It is typical for a content calendar to follow a monthly theme and engage with holidays. Begin with a simple strategy that enables you to stay consistent before adding more tasks to your day.

This Is A Blog
When I started blogging, I had no idea of the potential revenue streams I could tap into. I blogged as a way to share my thoughts or express my feelings about specific topics. But blogs can be much more than that… New blogs have the potential of earning revenue through affiliate marketing and ad sense. More prominent blogs have additional income streams, such as services and products. Blogging brings opportunities to meet new people, educate, and even earn money. In addition to earning money, blogging offers flexibility to dive into your interests at your time and around your schedule.
