Are you looking for ways to increase your Twitter followers? Here's the ultimate guide!
I have a lot of people following me on Twitter, and I want more. I'm not sure why you wouldn't want to increase your followers, but that's not the problem. The problem is how to get more followers. It seems like such an easy task: just tweet out some exciting stuff and watch the notifications pour in…but it's not so simple for me.
See, most of my tweets are about my newsletter- how I started it, what content is included every month, who subscribes to it..and while those aren't bad things for people to read about (especially if they're considering signing up), they're not really exciting or attention-grabbing?
So here's where you come in! I want to take all the boring, uninteresting, and often repetitive information about my newsletter and turn it into something fun. I'm going to post articles that are as interesting to read as they are to write about, I'm going to share links that people will find absolutely fascinating, and I'm going to learn a lot….but most importantly, the result is going to be something that people want to click on. To listen…and for some of you…to subscribe.
It's time to start a Campaign of my own. I'm going to focus on three things: interesting content, social media, and engagement. Let's talk about engagement first. It's important to me that the people who follow me – and are considering signing up for my newsletter – enjoy themselves when they read my tweets.
Before we get started, make sure to sign up for my newsletter and get tons of tips and tricks to boost your blogging business.

How to get started with Twitter – choosing a username, setting up an account, finding people to follow
With Twitter, you have the freedom to be as active or inactive as you please.
Choosing a username
Your username will be used whenever you're mentioned on Twitter, or someone links to your account. When choosing a username for Twitter, try to make it memorable and catchy. You can also build brand recognition around the name of your business and create some personal brand equity for yourself.
A good practice is ensuring that when people visit your Twitter profile (by going to twitter.com/username), they can easily find your profile. Twitter provides you with the opportunity to optimize your profile so that when someone visits your Twitter page (using a link to your Twitter account), they will be directed back to you immediately.
Setting up an account
To set up an account, you must have a name and email address before you can actually create one. This information will also be used when signing up for Twitter, and you are required to provide a phone number.
You can click sign up, fill in the captcha, enter your personal information, and create your password. Be sure to choose something that won't be easy to hack or guess! Once you have all of the information filled in.
For security purposes, it's recommended that you change your password right away or as soon as possible after setting up your account. Once you've chosen a secure password, it's time to verify your email address by entering the password you selected and following the directions on Twitter's Help Center.
After you have verified your account, you will be sent a verification code and instructions on setting up your account.
Following people on Twitter – who can I follow? When should I follow them?
Finding people to follow is the first step in growing your Twitter network. When you're first starting out on Twitter, it's best to follow people who are similar to you. You can find these users by searching for hashtags related to your industry, profession, or topic.
Some of the best places to search for hashtags include Twitter Search, Hashtags.org, and Twubs.com.
If you're looking for potential connections with customers or clients, it's good practice to search for people talking about your products or services.
Once you've compiled a list of potential users to follow, it's time to go through and start following them. When you follow someone on Twitter, you will see that person's tweets in your timeline. However, if I searched for “digital marketing” or “social media,”…this opens up a list of results.
Why you should care about Twitter
Social media has become such a large part of our lives that it's almost difficult to imagine life without it. From connecting with old friends to making new ones, Twitter really helps people engage with others they wouldn't usually have the opportunity to meet.
Twitter is a great way to connect with your customers, share industry news and what you have going on in your business. It also provides companies and organizations with the opportunity to promote themselves on a platform that many people use.
The cons of using Twitter (time commitment)
Twitter is so addictive, it's essential to be careful when posting. If you're spending too much time on Twitter, chances are that you're missing out on some other things that need your attention.
There are many ways that you can use Twitter and still stay productive. Here are a few tips:
- Use tools likeIfttt.com to auto-schedule your posts for a time when you know you'll be away from Twitter, or use a Twitter tool to automatically schedule tweets for you. This way, you can focus on your work and still find time to post throughout the day.
- Make sure that you schedule some of your tweets ahead of time so that they're published when it's convenient for you to post them. This will help to lessen the time commitment you're making while using Twitter.
- If you don't want to have your Twitter account on your phone (or any device with Internet access), turn off tweet notifications. This way, when you come across a tweet that's worth responding to, it won't suddenly show up on your home screen.
For a long time, Twitter has been used as an advertising platform for businesses to grow their social marketing into a profitable endeavor. By leveraging the number of users exposed to advertisements on the platform, companies can gain an edge over their competitors.
Why do I need to increase my followers on Twitter?
If you're a content creator, chances are your social media following is essential to you. You want to reach as many people as possible for them to see what you have created and get a chance at purchasing it or seeing the next thing that you release. The more followers on Twitter, the better! One of the most common questions I get asked by my clients is how they gain more followers? Here's why:
- They can increase their number of followers by simply tweeting out links to their blog posts and other things they create;
- It helps when people retweet what they tweet;
- If someone tweets something about one of your pieces of content, then share it with all your followers;
Some methods work better than others when it comes to getting more people to follow what they do or say on Twitter. By using these three strategies mentioned above, one can get millions of followers in no time at all!

- Create quality content- On Twitter, the best marketing is backlink building. Linking back to your own website is one of the most popular ways to get people talking about you. (Linkbuilding can be done in many ways- from linking directly to a page on your website to mentioning other bloggers in tweets)
- Focus on quality- Your followers will trend topics that are relevant to your business or industry and upvote those sayings. Show the world that you are a credible person.
- Tag your company when tweeting- It helps if you recognize the correct spelling of your business name in tweets. Additionally, people will think more highly of you if they can see a recognizable image of your company in the tweet.
- Post regularly- Don't get on Twitter just to post once or twice a week! Think of how many users [you have] that could be potential customers or clients and post about what YOU have going on in YOUR business all the time.
- Use video If you're using Twitter to promote a product or service, it's a good idea to add a short video of your product in action!
- Keep an eye on your competitors- You can get great ideas for content and how you can market yourself from what your competitors are doing on Twitter. Try asking them questions about their business on Twitter so that they will see that you’re interested.
- Plan your campaign- Come up with the idea that will get you some well-deserved attention, such as a contest or giveaway. Other ideas include tweeting about products and services offered by your company; sharing links to helpful articles related to your industry, replying when someone mentions you in their tweet, etc.
- Build your profile- If you're a businessman, it's a good idea to take advantage of the native profile. If possible, try and use photos. Make sure to fill out all of the relevant fields, especially the website.
- Follow your competitors– Not to troll them, but to get information for yourself. Be sure to only follow companies relevant to your industry and better if you follow a few competitors.
- Tweet about your business- You can also use Twitter to share links to helpful articles related to your industry. This way, you're showing people that you're a reputable business and show them your expertise.
- Reply to other tweets– If someone mentions something related to your business in a tweet, it's always intelligent to reply. If they ask a question, answer it with a personal response. If they compliment you on something you have done, let them know how much it means.
- The benefits of using Twitter for business growth– A great way to market your products or services online; use it for keyword research; a chance to get quick feedback from your customers, etc. You can also use the platform for industry research.

When I started blogging, I had no idea of the potential revenue streams I could tap into. I blogged as a way to share my thoughts or express my feelings about specific topics. But blogs can be much more than that… New blogs have the potential of earning revenue through affiliate marketing and ad sense. More prominent blogs have additional income streams, such as services and products. Blogging brings opportunities to meet new people, educate, and even earn money. In addition to earning money, blogging offers flexibility to dive into your interests at your time and around your schedule.
